1. Engineering & Foundation Design: The Blueprint of Safety
For any large-scale amusement ride, safety and stability begin with precise engineering. To ensure a seamless installation process in Ethiopia, the Carnee Rides engineering team provided highly detailed, customized CAD drawings tailored to the client’s specific 20×18m site footprint.
We delivered a complete General Assembly Drawing detailing the load-bearing structure of the A-frame, wind resistance ratings (designed to safely halt operation at 15m/s wind speeds), and the exact installation tolerances for the central axle.
More importantly, to prevent local construction errors, we provided an exhaustive Foundation and Platform Drawing. This included precise rebar layouts, concrete grade requirements, and pre-embedded anchor bolt positions, saving the client significant local communication costs and eliminating the risk of civil engineering rework.
2. Manufacturing & Quality Control: Built for the African Climate
Ethiopia’s climate presents strong UV rays and high daytime temperatures. To guarantee the ultimate passenger experience and equipment longevity, we made targeted upgrades during the in-house manufacturing process.
Inside our heavy-duty workshop, core load-bearing components like the central axle and slip rings underwent rigorous flaw detection testing to ensure absolute safety during years of continuous rotation.
For the passengers, we customized 18 fully enclosed cabins using high-strength, UV-resistant transparent materials. Crucially, each cabin was equipped with an independent top-mounted Air Conditioning (AC) unit. This ensures that families can enjoy a cool, comfortable panoramic view even during the hottest hours of the day.
3. Global Logistics & Smart Container Loading
Shipping heavy machinery across the globe is a challenge that requires strict packaging and high space utilization to control freight costs.
After factory acceptance testing, our logistics team executed a modular disassembly. The massive A-frame support columns and hundreds of rigid steel spokes and tie rods were systematically packed into shipping containers. Our professional steel lashing techniques not only prevented paint scratches during rough ocean transit but also maximized container space, saving the Ethiopian client a considerable amount in international shipping fees.
Upon arrival, as the flatbed truck rolled onto the Ethiopian site, all painted components and cabins were verified to be in pristine condition.
4. On-Site Installation & The Spectacular LED Light Show
With the equipment on-site, the most technical phase began. Guided by our comprehensive installation manuals and remote technical support, the local construction team efficiently completed the assembly.
Heavy cranes were used to securely lift the massive central hub onto the A-frame supports, establishing the structural center of gravity. Thanks to our precise factory pre-assembly, the on-site flanges and bolt holes aligned perfectly, significantly reducing high-altitude work time.
Once the mechanical structure was secured, the dynamic lighting system was tested. Equipped with a programmable full-color LED light show, the Ferris wheel instantly lit up the Ethiopian night sky. This stunning visual impact extends the park’s operating hours and strongly boosts the local nighttime economy.
5. Successful Delivery & Client Feedback
Before officially opening to the public, the 30m Ferris wheel passed strict empty-load, unbalanced-load, and full-load operational tests.
